ECC19--HandTalk 94.05
This is the strongest IBM Go program for PCs & currently the champion of the 1993 World Computer Go Congress (by winning all 6 games).  It has a very strong middle game.  It is also the only program that beat a dan (3D) level player in an exhibition game with handicap.  HandTalk is also very fast, completing a game in less than 20 minutes.  One can select board size of nxn with n equals 9, 13 and 19.  It can replay a game.  Special features include the capability of arranging stones manually during play to explore different possibilities.  It supports VGA, EGA, CGA, & Hercules.  It can be played with or without a mouse.  IBM PC or compatible.

EAC19--Go Intellect 5.0
This program is unarguably the strongest Go playing program (Mac) in the world.  It consistently earned the top 3 standing in every world championship competition for the passed 5 years, including the Computer Olympiad Gold medals (90-92).  Go Intellect is implemented with artificial intelligence techniques.  It 'understands' Go hence it can deal with novel Go game situations.  User can turn on 'fast mode' switch & play a speedy game but still at a level better than most other Go programs in their serious mode.  It allows user to replay a game or to explore alternative moves in a game with ease.  One can select board size of nxn with n from 2 to 19.  Macintosh Systems, memory 2MB.

This program is great for both introduction to Go & for advanced players.  Special features include the 'Hint' (causes the computer to tell you what it thinks is the best move during the game) and 'Why' (makes the computer give its reasons for the last move it made) commands.  It has excellent graphics and the ability to play 9x9, 13x13, or 19x19.  For PenPoint operating systems and Personal Communicators

EGGT1-GoTools (version 1.1)
It is the most fascinating and the strongest (highest level at dan-strength) life & death Go program.  The data base consists 24,000 problems which one can solve by going through the problem yourself, or asking the computer to show you the moves, or play the life and death problem against the computer as a game.  The player can set up his or her own positions for life & death.  You can also test your strength by guessing the best move.  The computer grades your answers and give you a score base on your performance.  Get stronger by mastering the problems in this software and have fun at the same time.  Automatic problem generation feature can generate 100-200 problem on a 486 PC (33MHz) over night! GoTools + problem vol. 1-3 (total of 12000 problems). Most important of all, you can record and view your own games.  It can be used to view both the Smart Go and the Ishi format.  GoRecord lets you add comments, game information and move variations easily.  Its special features include the generation of PostScript game files (with various grayscale board background). Beginners new to Chinese Chess may want to select a different program.  The easiest opponent of Chinese Chess Master III is very difficult to defeat, and you cannot change the strength level. ED001--REBEL 6.0
This is the strongest Chess program on the market, written by World Champion all classes Ed Schroder.  REBEL scored 5 out of 6  in the EAGON humans against computers tournament.  This represents an ELO- rating of 2461, over 100 points higher than the strongest computer competitor!  PC compatible.
